« Je pense que les peuples ont pris conscience du fait qu’ils avaient des intérêts communs et qu’il y avait des intérêts planétaires qui sont liés à l’existence de la terre, des intérêts que l’on pourrait appeler cosmologiques, dans la mesure où ils concernent le monde dans son ensemble ».
Pierre Bourdieu (1992)

Bourdieu and Geometric Analysis

Introductory One-Day Workshop

Date: Monday 11th July 2011

Venue: St Andrews University

This one-day workshop has been arranged to coincide with the week-long Conference on Bourdieu and Geometric Analysis:
Bourdieu used Multiple Correspondence Analysis extensively in his own work. This Workshop is intended as an Introduction to applying this approach to a range of data. Participants are encouraged to bring their own data and computers and will be supplied with the necessary software to undertake their own analysis.
Many argue that the future of Bourdieusian method must lie in developing a broader repertoire of techniques than have been used hitherto in applications of his approach. This is an opportunity to acquire these necessary skills.

Cost: £50 (Registration: https://onlineshop.st-andrews.ac.uk/browse/extra_info.asp?compid=1&modid=2&prodid=211&deptid=29&catid=27)
Accommodation: It is possible to book accommodation for the Sunday and/ or Monday nights at £55 for B&B.

The Workshop will be led by:
Brigitte Le Roux: Université Paris Descartes and CEVIPOF/CNRS, Sciences-Po, France
Frédéric Lebaron: CURAPP/CNRS, Université de Picardie - Jules Verne, France
Mike Grenfell: Trinity College Dublin, Ireland
