• “Microcosmes” is one of the first books about P. Bourdieu that was published in Greece. It’s goal was to make the work of Bourdieu known to the greek public that until that point was familiar only with the notions of social reproduction and cultural capital. Nikos Panayiotopoulos in the introduction of this book makes a presentation of the sociological theory introduced by Bourdieu and how this was developed throughout different kind of researches starting with the methodological researches in Algeria and naturally passing in the analysis of school culture and education in French society. What is presented and analyzed in the introduction is the theory of Bourdieu and specific terms like habitus, social reproduction, cultural capital, the symbolic violence, field, throught the presentation of certain books like Le métier de sociologue, Les Heritiers , La Reproduction, L’ amour de l’ art, Un art moyen, La Distinction, La noblesse d’ Etat. The book is consisted of a prologue by P. Bourdieu, specially written for this Greek edition which refers to the notion of the field and of three articles of P. Bourdieu a) “Le Champ scientifique”, Actes de la recherché en sciences sociales 2-3 (1976) 88 – 104, b) “La Représentation politique. Elements pour une theorie du champ politique”, Actes de la recherché en sciences sociales 36- 37 (1981) 3 – 24, c) “La force du droit. Elements pour une sociologie du champ juridique”, Actes de la recherché en sciences sociales 64 (1986) 5 – 19.

At the end of the book there is the bibliography of the work of Bourdieu (books, articles, interviews and presentations and translated editions of them in english and german) for a period of about 30 years, presented by Yvette Delsaut, researcher in Centre de Sociologie Europeene.
